Effect of Heart Rate Response to Endotracheal Intubation with Valium and Inhalation Anesthetics

Abstract
The change in heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure after endotracheal intubation was determined in patients Inducing anesthesia by pretreating valium(7 patients), ether(7 patients),and halothane-ether comtination group(7 patients).
Those data were compared with data for seven patients receiving pentothal sodium 6mg/kg and succinylcholine 1.5mg/kg of body weight respectively.
In control group, heart rate was increased 6/min. after intubation and 20/¢¥min. at two minute after intubation(0.01£¼P£¼0.025), and systolic blood pressure was increased 31 torr after intubation and 26 torr at two minute after intubation that was significant mathematically(P£¼0. 005), and diastolic blood pressure was increased tendency.
In valium group, heart rate, systolic blood pressure was increased tendency compare a with control group.
In ether group, heart rate was not changed but blood pressure was increased significant(0.01£¼P£¼0.025).
In halothane-ether combination group, heart rate and blood pressure was not changed during endotracheal intubation and at two minute after intubation.
